Contact UsFrequently Answered Questions

Volunteering with Dragonsavers Credit Union

Who controls the Banks?
Banks exist to make money for their shareholders. We don't have share or stock holders to pay so we don't have to make them a profit. The money that we save from being 'not-for-profit' we give back to you.
When we make profit, ALL of it is given back to you, our members.

Who controls Dragonsavers Credit Union?
Only the members and volunteers - who are all members - and the regulatory bodies.

Can anyone become a member?
Membership is only available to those who live or work in Rhondda Cynon Taff and their immediate family.

Are we only a small, local organisation?
No. There are over 40,000 organisations like us, called Credit Unions, in 78 countries worldwide with 118 million members enjoying 'not-for-profit' financial services.
Wales currently has around 50 Credit Unions.

Is your money safe?

Yes. There are many advantages to joining Dragonsavers Credit Union and your money is as safe with us as any Bank or Building Society. We are all controlled and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
